Writing
Im not a great writer. People read a write things all the time like its the easiest thing in the world. Im more of a puzzle piece person. You know, like the math person. I can say I have wrote better papers than I used to. Maybe because I use my puzzle piece skills to put sulutions together a make an essay. I'm learning as I go and hope to become as good as other writers that like to write.

ReplyDeleteI appreciate this reflection. One of my favorite researchers on writing, Peter Elbow, argues that we all enjoy the act of writing as kids. We use crayons and scribble our way into expression. Yet, school, in general, makes so many of us hate to read and write. It did me. Classrooms do not allow students to read and write for real purposes and for real audiences. When was the last time that you woke up and said, "Man, I really want to write an essay today." Never, I bet. However, you may have woken up in the middle of the night (or day since you work nights) and felt compelled to send a text message, just as an example. The more that we can put students in touch with authentic writing, the more easily they can see that they are writers. You are a writer, and your abilities to see that writing and research will benefit from your passion for puzzles is wise.
